Donors to EFP:

Government of Bosnia-Herzegovina

EFP has received invaluable support and in-kind contributions from various segments of the Government and people of Bosnia and Herzegovina in both entities of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Republika Srprska .

Switzerland (SDC)

In May 2002, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) hosted an international donors' conference for the continuation and expansion of Education for Peace. In November 2002, SDC awarded the Institute a 4-year grant for the development and implementation of the EFP-World (online and CD-Rom) program for 100 secondary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The initial phase will involve the participation of over 80,000 students, 5,000 teachers and school staff, and by extension, the families and community-at-large.

Canada (CIDA)

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and its International Humanitarian Assistance Division, Peacebuilding Fund, committed funds in January 2003 for the further development of the EFP curriculum and its activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The grant from CIDA will enable EFP to develop an educational resource entitled ‘Peace Moves’, on video and CD-Rom for use in Bosnia and Herzegovina classrooms. The piece is an interactive story with animated youth from around the world who discuss and consult about how the creation of peace is possible. This support from CIDA will help increase opportunities for both teacher and student training throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and will fund a National Peace Event, where students of all ethnic backgrounds share and celebrate their respective peace-building initiatives.

Japan (JICA)

In October 2002, the Government of Japan funded a 3-day training seminar about "Creating a Culture of Healing" for more than 350 teachers and school staff of Sarajevo, Mostar, Nova Bila and Banja Luka.

Luxembourg (MFA)

The pilot year of the EFP program was made possible through a grant awarded by the Government of Luxembourg. This grant enabled Landegg International University to successfully implement the first year of the Education for Peace program in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Vectis Solutions

Vectis Solutions, a Toronto-based technology firm has donated funds and resources for the online media development of the EFP-World program. In conjunction with the support from SDC, the grant will facilitate the introduction of the electronic version of the EFP Curriculum into schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina over the next four years.

Rotary

Thanks to financial support from Rotary Club, in February 2003, the EFP Program was initiated in The Mostar Gymnasium and Joze Martinović Secondary Economic School, two secondary schools in the strategic city of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Office of the High Representative

Several smaller, but significant grants from the Office of the High Representative (OHR) have been important in implementing the second year of the program in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Luxembourg (MFA)

The pilot year of the EFP program was made possible through a grant awarded by the Government of Luxembourg. This grant enabled Landegg International University to successfully implement the first year of the Education for Peace program in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Friends of EFP

While the Education for Peace program has received grants from International Community, the governments of Luxembourg, Switzerland, Japan, Canada and agencies such as  the Rotary Club, EFP also relies heavily on the contributions and services of private individuals, corporations and foundations to maintain and develop the core activities of the EFP-International and EFP regional offices.

Becoming a "Friend of Education for Peace" involves promoting the vision and supporting the activities of Education for Peace through networking, donations, and through such activities as organizing public fund-raising events at your workplaces or through professional contacts (among business, government, service-industry, etc.) These contributions will have a great impact on the lives of tens of thousands, and eventually millions, of people in various parts of the globe.

We value and appreciate the support of the Friends of Education for Peace and welcome all suggestions on how to develop and enhance this invaluable network.
