Peace Education Training Workshops

"Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding."

Albert Einstein

10:00-1700 Optional Simultaneous Introductory Training Workshops on:

Education for Peace (EFP)

The one-day training workshop on the Education for Peace (EFP) Program is designed to familiarize the participants with the conceptual foundations and application methodologies of this highly acclaimed approach for preventing conflicts and creating violence-free and peaceful environments in school communities.  The workshop draws on the experience gained in the course of seven years of implementation of the EFP Program in primary and secondary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina and most recently in North America. The faculty will focus on the conceptual framework of Education for Peace and will briefly describe the strategies for its implementation in the classroom and school community as a whole.

Participants:  This one-day training workshop is specially designed for practitioners and students in the fields of education, community development, conflict resolution, and peace building.

Faculty: Senior faculty of EFP-International (Canada and Europe)

Conflict-Free Conflict Resolution (CFCR)

CFCR is a tested model of a new conflict resolution process. It represents a distinctive attempt to infuse conflict resolution practices with a focus on unity as both a method and an outcome. CFCR began to emerge about a decade ago through implementation in Switzerland and other European countries since 1998 and is now being introduced into North America. The ideas and practices associated with CFCR have since been used on a small-scale in a number of contexts, including marriage and family conflicts and within corporations and schools (Micro Conflicts). It has also been incorporated in the Education for Peace program in over one hundred schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with some 80,000 students and 5,000 teachers and schools staff (Macro Conflict). CFCR encourages new thinking and exploration with respect to our understanding of conflict and the dynamics of conflict resolution.

Participants: This course is designed for conflict resolution practitioners, trainers, and students; members of legal profession; law enforcement professionals; educators; policymakers; community development workers; and interested individuals.

Faculty: Senior Faculty of EFP-International (Canada)

Youth Peace-builder Network (YPN)

This one-day training workshop is designed to familiarize the participants with YPN concepts and skills. YPN is an emerging network of youth mobilized in different communities to become informed of the principles of peace, empowered with skills of peacebuilding, and prepared to assume leadership in creating violence-free and peaceful schools and communities.  Trained in cutting edge concepts of peacemaking, conflict transformation, and violence prevention, YPN participants lead their peers in exploring the fundamental ideas, worldviews, and actions which characterize a civilization of peace.

Participants: Youth and young adults, primary and secondary school teachers and staff, and others.

Faculty: Faculty of EFP-America
