About IEFPA

Peace is the world’s most urgent need and cherished hope. It is increasingly evident that humanity must end its culture of conflict, violence, and war, and build in its stead a civilization of peace. While many universities, government agencies, civil society organizations, academics, and educators devote considerable resources to the study of conflict, violence, and war, there are relatively few programs and groups dedicated to a systematic, sustained plan of action to educate children and youth, their parents, teachers, and leaders in the principles of peace. Consequently, every new generation repeats the mistakes of former generations and conflict and violence become permanent facets of human societies.

IEFPA is a community of individuals and institutions dedicated to the goal of breaking this vicious cycle of violence through assisting young generations—with the help of their teachers, parents, and community leaders—to become peacemakers. Peace and education are inseparable aspects of civilization. No civilization is truly progressive without education and no education system is truly civilizing unless it is based on the universal principles of peace.

If you are not able to attend the International Education for Peace Conference—2007 or are only able to attend the training session and you would like to become a member, please follow the directions listed below:

Students and Persons from UN-designated “Developing Countries”: $25/year
Schools/Institutions (10 or more members) $400/year
