Training Program

I. Wednesday 14 November 2007 (Optional) Optional participation in the program of the First International Education for Peace Conference—2007, visit <www.efpinternational.org/conference2007> for more information.

II. Thursday November 15^th through Saturday November 17^th

Choose one of the following YPN certification training programs:

Level 1: Building a Foundation of Unity (two-day training)

Gain the fundamental frameworks and skills that are necessary for building peace and unity in your families, schools, and communities.

Participants: Training open to all new youth and adult participants

Become part of a global network of youth and adults involved in peacebuilding.
Explore ways of understanding peace and conflict.
Learn innovative frameworks for thinking and action about peace building and conflict prevention.
Strengthen your peacebuilding and conflict resolution skills.
Develop a unified peacebuilding team with a plan for action in your communities.

Level 2: Strengthening the Foundation of Unity through Diversity (two-day training)

Build on the insights and skills developed in the Level 1 training by strengthening unity through a deep exploration of the dynamics of diversity.

Participants: Training open to all youth and adults who have completed Level 1 training prior to Vancouver conference.

Take a deep diversity dive to explore the critical dimensions of our identities and how they contribute to conflict as well as how they can constructively contribute to building peace.
Explore dimensions such as gender, race, culture and class and how they contribute to group dynamics and peacebuilding.
Develop knowledge and skills for dealing with power, authority and competitiveness in groups and communities.
Explore practical ways to harness the power of diversity to build a culture of peace and healing in our communities.
Develop a plan of action for building unity through diversity in your school and community.

III. Additional Activities

(Open to all youths and adults involved in the Level 1 and Level 2 trainings.)

Attend the YPN presentation at the concluding session of the International Education for Peace Conference-2007

Executive Rooms - updated, newly renovated rooms
