Home SWISS AGENCY FOR DEVELOPMENT AND COOPERATION (SDC) GRANTS 2 MILLION SWISS FRANCS FOR CREATION OF EFP-World FOR IMPLEMENTATION IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA EFP– World , an IT -integrated version of the Education for Peace (EFP) curriculum is currently being developed for introduction to 100 secondary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina, through a grant of €1.35 million from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and a €2 million grant from a private foundation in Canada. Developed on the basis of the experience gained in the EFP program in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) over the past two years, the ultimate objective of EFP-World is to provide a comprehensive peace education program to schools around the world, particularly in those regions where the ravages of war, terrorism, prejudice, rapid socioeconomic and cultural change, and the demands of modern life have created conditions of insecurity and conflict in families, schools, and communities. The program has the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the respective Ministries of Education of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska. The first phase will include introduction
of EFP-World over 4 years to 100 secondary
schools in BiH. Starting September 2003, the Project
is
being implemented in both entities of BiH—involving almost 5,000
teachers and school staff, 60,000 students, and by extension their families
and the community-at-large. Grants for the introduction of the program
to the remaining 200 BiH secondary schools are being sought.
