EFP-International Selected as One of Twelve Finalists for Prestigious World Culture Open Awards

The WCO Awards were created as a way to pay the highest tribute possible to those individuals and organizations, whose unceasing efforts and invaluable contributions have benefited both humanity and the world. The World Culture Open (WCO) Awards Organizing Committee has recently selected EFP-International as one of twelve finalists to be showcased at the 2004 WCO Awards Ceremony in New York on 9 of September, 2004. The WCO Awards Ceremony is one of the events being held during the three-day 2004 Global Festival. Each of the twelve finalists will have the opportunity to give a brief presentation about their work in one of the three award categories of Creative Arts, Holistic Wellbeing, and Humanitarian Service. One winner will be announced in each category at the ceremony and will win US$100, 000.

Dr. Danesh, Director of EFP-International, on behalf of EFP-International, will be present at the Ceremony to highlight EFP's work, particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), before a distinguished audience of United Nations and government representatives, academia, artists, holistic practitioners and humanitarian workers. The ceremony will feature various keynote and congratulatory speeches, and showcase cultural traditions and performances by celebrated artists from various regions of the world

To be honored as a finalist for this international award is a great achievement for the dedicated people who work to realize Education for Peace in BiH and other parts of the world. The achievement is truly collective, and our gratitude extends to the Federal, Entity and Cantonal authorities in BiH, the Pedagogical Institutes, our donors and international partners, and of course the to coordinators, local team members, school directors, teachers, parents and students, all of whom have made EFP so successful.

EFP would like to extend a special thank-you to everyone for their support of EFP in BiH and other parts of the world, with special recognition to Ambassador Robert Beecroft, Head of Mission of OSCE and Claude Kiefer, OSCE Deputy Director of Education, Mr. Severin Montina, Assistant Minister of Education, FBiH, and Ms. Indira Buljubasic, Director, 3rd Primary School, Ilidza for helping nominate EFP for this award.
