EFP-Leadership

Leadership for Peace is an intensive training program aimed at equipping leaders in all segments of the society - government, civic, business, NGOs, professional institutions, religious organizations, etc.- with the knowledge and skills for successful peace-centered leadership in the context of the evermore complex emerging global society.

Leadership for Peace (LFP) is a significant program that greatly enhances and facilitates the success of the Education for Peace program, wherever it is implemented, and greatly reinforces the processes of building a culture of peace and a culture of healing in these communities.

Leadership for Peace focuses on building the capacity of leaders in all segments of the society so that they are able to develop suitable strategies for creating a culture of peace in their respective communities, institutions and organizations. In particular, the program:

1. Equips participants with the conceptual understanding of an enlightened and progressive, peace-based leadership formulated according to the principle of unity in diversity, the practice and ethics of democracy and characterized by inter-ethnic harmony and cooperation, regard for the human rights of all citizens, the equality of women and men and the application of conflict-free methods of conflict resolution;

2. Provides practical training in the basic skills needed to create violence-free communities, including participatory, unity-based decision-making;

3. Teaches the necessary skills for leadership for peace so that participants are able to develop concrete strategies for the creation of a culture of peace, thereby diffusing the program ideals into the public consciousness;

4. Equips participants with an understanding of the nature and characteristics of post-traumatic conditions and teaches them how to assist in the process of psychological recovery through the creation of a “culture of healing” in the community;

5. Acquaints leaders with the principle concepts and objectives of the EFP program to seek their active and sustained support for its implementation.
